Detroit's patio season is short and everybody knows it, so the good ones fill by six. These all have outdoor seating on the record.

**Corktown.** Green Dot Stables keeps a patio behind a bar that serves sliders until late, and it's the most reliably casual seat on this list. Ottava Via has the big Michigan Avenue patio — long tables, good for six people. Mercury Burger & Bar sits across from the old station with the kind of patio you end up at rather than plan for. Mudgie's Deli and Wine Shop has the quiet courtyard version, and Ima Izakaya is the one to pick if you want to eat outside without eating heavy.

**Downtown.** Mootz Pizzeria + Bar puts tables out on Library Street, which is one of the better people-watching stretches in the city. Andiamo Detroit Riverfront is the water view. Harry's Detroit Bar & Restaurant is where you go before or after a game, and La Lanterna and ADELINA both take the sidewalk seriously.

**Brush Park and Midtown.** Grey Ghost Detroit has the patio that feels like a backyard party. SheWolf Pastificio & Bar and Selden Standard both do outdoor tables, and Selden Standard's is the one to try for early in the evening when the light is still good. The Whitney's grounds on Woodward are the grand version — a lawn and a mansion rather than a patio.

**Eastern Market and elsewhere.** Supino Pizzeria Eastern Market puts seats out on Russell, which on a Saturday is the whole market going past your table. Detroit Shipping Company is an outdoor food hall built from containers, so it's effectively all patio. Pie Sci Pizza in Woodbridge and Sicily's pizzeria and subs in Mexicantown round out the neighborhood options. The Sugar House in Corktown is the late cocktail.

Most of these seat outside first-come. If you want a specific table on a Friday in July, call.
